The 2008 Mason Heritage Festival – Coming Home!
Festivals of Mason, Inc. is proud to announce the Mason Heritage Festival on Saturday, August 23, 2008. The Festival will be “Coming Home” to downtown Mason after having to relocate for 2006 & 2007 due to downtown construction. We would like to thank Mason City Schools for allowing us the use of the Mason High School parking lots for the Festival for the last two summers.

We’re bringing back some Heritage from the early days of the Festival this year, with the Mason Historical Society 2008 Classic Car Show, taking place just around the corner from Festival Grounds.  Also back this year is the Out House Challenge – scroll down for more information!

EVER BEEN IN AN OUT HOUSE RACE?
This year the Mason Heritage Festival Committee is excited to bring back one of the oldest traditional events in MHF history .. The Out House Race. Area companies can compete for the Plunger Prize trophy and bragging rights by entering their very own, hand-built out house. The out house must be on wheels and meet other specifications – please see the application in the download center on the Mason Heritage Festival page. Talk about great “exposure” for your company...
Good luck to all of this year’s entries!!!

THE BATTLE OF THE BANDS IS BACK!
Local bands consisting of junior high and high school-aged musicians can compete for prizes on their own stage at the Festival. Check out the application in the download center of the Mason Heritage Festival page.

The Fifth Annual HealthSource Mason Idol Competition is open to all children and young adults from the ages of 7 (before October 1, 2008) and 18 years of age.  Walk in registration at the first round of competition at the Mason Municipal building is welcome and encouraged!  We would also like to thank Tantalize, Salons at Sniders Crossing and Extreme Golf Carts for their sponsorship of Mason Idol.

There are several ways that businesses and citizens alike can participate in the 2008 Mason Heritage Festival, such as:

  • Sponsorship

  • The Heritage Parade

  • The Outhouse Race

  • Food and Craft Booths

  • The Battle of the Bands

...And more! You can find information on all of these activities in the Heritage Festival page Download Center.
